Overton Tacks up a W at Talladega after 5th at Smoky Mountain

4/29/2019 Overton Tacks up a W at Talladega after 5th at Smoky Mountain

These types of press releases are easy and fun to write. Here is the who, what, where, when and how of the weekend went.

Who? Brandon Overton in the Rum Runner Racing #2.

What? Winner of the Southern All Stars $4,000 to win 40 lap feature event.

Where? Talladega Short Track across the street from Talladega Super Speedway. Someone said there was a race there too. Not really sure.

How? Overton set fast time overall in qualifying and went on to lead every lap and score the victory.

Maybe it wasn’t as simple as it sounds but regardless, Overton and the entire Rum Runner Racing crew had a great weekend. The team supported the Southern All Star Series both Friday and Saturday night. Friday, they made the trip to Smoky Mountain Speedway where Overton rallied from a midfield starting spot to a strong 5th place finish.

Taking the momentum to Talladega, Overton and crew chief Harold Holly finished off where they started the last time they were there. Overton set overall fast time and went on to lead every lap of the feature to bring the $4,000 back to Rum Runner Racing HQ.

Just down the road, Pell City AL is where Rum Runner Racing crew chief Harold Holly is from. Talladega Short Track is where Holly got his start in racing. This weekends win was very special to Holly, as well as for his nephew and father who were both there to celebrate with the team in Victory Lane.

Next weekend, I am getting back behind the wheel of the 2nd #2 for Rum Runner Racing as Brandon and I both look to capture a pair of $10,000 to win features at Cherokee Speedway Friday May 3rd and Lavonia Speedway Saturday May 4th.

A very special thank you once again to all of our great sponsors that have made our success this year possible!
