Overton gets 1st WoO Win for Rum Runner Racing at Screven

2/8/2019 Overton gets 1st WoO Win for Rum Runner Racing at Screven

The last time Brandon Overton visited victory lane in the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series it was in the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway in 2017. Its time to update that stat. After 50 laps at Screven Motorsports Park, “Big Sexy” parked the Rum Runner Racing #2 in WoO victory lane for the first time in 2019. This marks the 1st national touring series win for Rum Runner Racing.

The night started off on a high note with Big Sexy clocking in a 2nd place time in hot laps and in qualifying. He and the Rum Runner crew continued to build momentum by winning their heat, placing them in the feature redraw.

After re-drawing the #2, Overton took an early lead from the outside poll and despite a few early race cautions, was able to keep the lead and put some distance between himself and field through the middle of the 50 lap feature. While working through lap traffic and enjoying a solid lead, the caution would wave inside 20 to go. Once the field was back under green Overton held off a late race charge from Chris Madden and claimed the 1st WoO victory of the year. The 9th career WoO feature win for Overton. His 3rd win in a row at Screven Motorsports Park and his first with Rum Runner Racing.

So many great people and companies have come together to put this team together. I couldn’t be prouder of the effort that everyone has put in over the last couple months. All of us at Rum Runner Racing would like to thank: Penske Racing Shocks, PFC Brakes, SRI Performance, VP Racing Fuels, Hoosier Tires by Brian, ETG, AirShok, Race-Fan, Molecule, Simpson Race Products, Willy’s Carb & Dyno, Cornett Racing Engines, Wiles Drive Shafts, DirtWrap, EZGO, Shaffer’s Oil, C&H Paving, and Rocket Chassis.
